玩笑的恰当使用有助于缩短人与人之间的心理距离,形成一种轻松活泼的氛围。玩笑属间接言语,主要表达方式有反语、夸张、双关语、暗喻等。反语是用与本意相反的词语或句子来表达本意;夸张是有意识的言过其实从而造成谐趣;双关则主要通过语义或语音上的双重性使人在心理上形成悬念并发生突转,达到幽默的效果;暗喻则是含蓄地将一事物同另一事物相比较,需要受话人自己去领会。在开玩笑时运用暗喻可以巧妙地将不协调的事物或概念联结在一起从而带来乖讹的喜剧感受。适当运用各类玩笑表达方式能充分发挥玩笑的交际功能。
