Oversampled Sigma-delta A/D Converters and Their Applications in CMOS Sensors

In this article, the principle of oversampled sigmadelta converters is introduced. Their characteristics such as high precision,simple structure and fabrication technology, and compatibility with CMOS process are analysed. Oversampled sigmadelta converters are more suitable for fabrication of CMOS sensors and SOCs of CMOS sensors because of these characteristics. Finally,the applications of this kind of ADC in CMOS sensor field is demonstrated.
