知识创新能力是主体依靠知识进步改进现实世界的活动能力，是主体各种能力整合而成的一种能力，包括创造、传播和应用知识的能力，结合、转化和扩散知识资源的能力等。知识创新能力是在人的认识与实践活动中建构起来的，是社会的能力，这种能力也有自己的历史限度。
