Structural Change in the Academic Profession in Chinese Higher Education and its Influence

摘要 中国教师学术职业的结构性变迁主要体现在两个方面:一方面指教师间学术职业结构的分化,由过去教师-行政人员间的二元结构,演变为现在的教师-课题经理-亦管亦教亦研的"学者官员"-纯管理者之间的多元关系和分层;另一方面指教师本人职业的分化,主要表现在教师学术角色的多元化。此外,本文还从大学学术行政化的管理体制、课题管理商业化操作、教师量化考核等几个方面探讨了引起这一结构变化的原因和后果。 Change in academic profession in higher education is becoming a hot topic all over the world. In China, this change exhibits two main aspect. The first aspect is structural diversification of academic profession among faculty members– from faculty-administrator binary structure to that of multiple relationships and hierarchies among faculty, project managers and 'official scholars' who have combined roles of administrator, teacher and researcher. The second aspect is the diversification of professional roles of individual faculty members. The study explores reasons and results of academic change in terms of management system of academic bureaucracy, marketisation of project management, quantified faculty assessment and so on.
