John Dewey studied educational theories and practice thoroughly and creatively.He set up a whole system of pragmatic educational ideas,of which curricular theories were one of the most important components.He aimed at the abuses of traditional education,and offered brand-new curricular theories,the core of which can be looked upon as 'children,activities,values'.Dewey contended that the designs of curricula should be based on children's needs,the children's activities should actualize the curricula,and the evaluation of the curricula should regard values as its tropism.
