自主创新是西方的创新及技术创新概念在中国的一种扩展和一种独特的研究视角,对中国未来发展具有重大理论和现实意义。全面认识自主创新需要从四个维度审视,即技术学、经济学、社会学等学科维度;知识产权以及应用的经济法维度;国家经济发展模式的路径选择维度;国家发展战略维度。自主创新与创新型国家的建立是一个相辅相成的过程,两者互为手段,互为目的。没有自主创新的开展和自主创新能力的提高,创新型国家的建立必将难以实现。
