The Origin and Development of Maoqiang

茂腔是起源于民间、流行于山东东部地区、被誉为“胶东之花”的地方戏曲,它以独特的艺术魅力和浓郁的地方特色为广大群众所喜欢。在其发展过程中,大体经历了“本肘妓”“冒肘鼓”和“茂腔”三个阶段,从最初的男女同腔到现在的分角色演唱,茂腔走过了将近200年的历史。茂腔戏最流行的传统剧目“四大京”“八大记”就是在茂腔的第二个阶段编辑整理出的。茂腔的文武场是在建国以后正式走向正规的,伴奏乐器也在这个时期走向成熟。

Known as“Flower of Jiaodong Area”,Maoqiang is a regional drama that originates among the people and is popular in the east of Shangdong Provice.People like it because of its unique artistic charm and the rich local characteristics.During its developing process,it has roughly experienced three stages,namely“Ben Zhou Gu”,“Mao Zhou Gu”and“Maoqiang”.Maoqiang has its history for 200 years.The most popular traditional theater repertoire“Si Da Jing”“Ba Da Ji”was edited and reorganized in the second stage.Wenwuchang in Maoqiang formally embarked on the right track after the founding of PRC,and the accompaniment instrument became mature during this period.
