On Zhan Ruoshui's Philosophy of the Mind

湛若水“随处体认天理”的心学思想是对陈白沙开创的江门心学思想的继承和发展,它们共同构成岭南心学思想路线,此路线是对程朱理学与陆王心学的综合创新。湛氏心学思想包含“心无内外”、“理无内外”的本体论思想,以及主静与主敬相统一、涵养与致知相统一、知疑与创新相统一的功夫论思想。

Zhan Ruoshui's idea of 'identification of heavenly principles anywhere and everywhere' was inheritance and development of the Jiangmen School of the Philosophy of Mind founded by Chen Baisha.Their thought constituted the line of thought of Guangdong philosophy of the mind which was integration and innovation of the Study of Principles founded by Zhu Xi and the Philosophy of the Mind founded by Lu Jiuyuan and Wang Yangming.Zhan's philosophy of the mind contains the ontological elements like 'boundless mind' and 'boundless principles'.They both advocated the cultivation of the mind through the unification of rest and respect,integration of self-restraint and learning,and the combination of doubting and innovation.
