The Influence of the Natural Disasters in Fujian and Taiwan during the Ming and Qing Dynasties on Mazu-Belief

由于明清时期福建及台湾地区自然灾害发生频繁且破坏严重,促使发端于宋代莆田湄洲岛上的妈祖信仰更加兴盛,并对其属性产生一定的影响,如多元化、人性化及信仰主体的“分身”等。

With the damages by frequent disasters in Fujian and Taiwan during the Ming and Qing dynasties, there arose more zealous Mazu-belief, which made its first appearance in Meizhou Island, Putian in the Song Dynasty, thus influencing such aspects as pluralism, human nature and faith in 'fenshen'.
