In her Pride and Prejudice,Jane Austen describes the women's eager pursuit of marriage in upper-middle class society.There are quite a few couples whose relationships and stories reflect the marriage situation and conventional view of that day in British society.The ideal pattern is that of Elizabeth and Darcy.This paper will discuss the patterns of marriage in this novel and explore Austen's view of marriage both accepting and surpassing the conventional view of marriage.
