Organizational assimilations of complex information technologies—An exploratory case study

摘要 组织复杂信息技术的吸收过程是一个组织学习和不断降低知识壁垒的过程。本研究的目的是探讨组织知识壁垒和吸收能力对组织信息技术吸收的影响。采用案例研究的方法,该文选取了两个大型企业作为案例对象,通过半开放式的访谈和查阅公司档案等方式对信息技术的吸收过程进行了纵向研究。结果发现,组织信息技术实施知识和吸收能力的差异是导致不同信息技术应用结果的主要原因。通过标准化、简化界面以及合理的实施小组组成等方式,可以有效降低组织复杂信息技术实施中的知识壁垒,提高信息技术的吸收能力。结论认为,组织知识和吸收能力对于组织信息吸收有很强的因果联系,通过有意识增加组织知识存量,提高吸收能力,可以促进信息系统的成功实施、应用和价值发挥。 The organizational assimilation of complex information systems is an organizational learning and knowledge barriers lowing process.The aim of this paper is to indicate whether and to what extent the knowledge barriers and absorptive capacities play roles in the assimilation process.With an exploratory case study approach,this research makes an extensive observation on the complex information technologies assimilation processes in two large enterprises.Results indicate that the difference in IT related absorptive capacity and implementation knowledge is the primary initiator of different assimilation performance.Standardization of the interface and a proper organization of project teams will lower the knowledge barriers and enhance the absorptive capacity efficiently.The conclusion is that the knowledge barriers and absorptive capacity do have significant positive casual links with the assimilation.Mindful improvement in organizational knowledge and absorptive capacity will greatly enhance the implementation,usage,and value of the information technologies in organizations.
