崇厚与晚清外交

Chong Hou and Diplomacy in Late Qing Dynasty

崇厚是晚清外交界重要人物之一,先后参与普鲁士、丹麦、荷兰、西班牙、比利时、意大利、奥地利等国约章的签订,担任通商大臣等要职,代表总理衙门,与各国交往,还兼办制造、练兵、海防等事务。他不但是首任三口通商大臣、第一位出使法国大臣,还是首位出使俄国钦差大臣。然而在晚清史籍中,对他却没有提及或很少提及。崇厚其人其事究竟如何?对他该如何评价?从崇厚的任用、失职、处理给我们又有什么启示?本文将就此提出自己的看法。

With many executive tiltes,Chong Hou was a very important figure in the diplomatic circles of late Qing dynasty,yet he was little mentioned in the historical records of that period.This paper will present its own opinion of Chong Hou,including the things he has done,comments of the later generations upon him,his ups and downs as a high-ranking official in late Qing dynasty.
