摘要
翻译馆在江南机器制造总局的历史上不仅仅是一个翻译出版机构,而且承担了当时中国社会急需的基础科学的传播和应用技术的传播两大任务。基础科学和应用技术是中国科学和工业技术所急需的不可偏废的两个组成部分。翻译馆对我国近代科学技术的发展起到了举足轻重的历史作用。
The Translation House is not a translation and publication unit only in the history of Jiangnan Manufacture(General Bureau.) It undertook the propaganda of foundamental science and applied technology,both are indispensable(components) of science and industrial technology,and were urgently needed in China at that time.The Translation House has brought the important effect to the development of modern science and technology in China.
