牧野之战是一场商周间的王朝兴替战争,它就发生在大体相当于今天的新乡地区.而'牧野'之称,至迟也当始于商王武丁都朝歌之际,所以,至今新乡地区仍别称为牧野大地.牧野之战不仅以'革命'实现了周代商君临天下,而且,它所铸就的牧野文化,还对当时的礼法制度的承袭与变革以及后世中国传统思想、文化、道德和民族精神、气节与最早的'以德治国'思想的形成,起到了至关重要的作用和巨大而又深远的影响.
