REVIEW OF THE CENTURY ACHIEVEMENTS OF RAILWAY ENGINEERING GEOLOGY IN THE NORTHWEST RESEARCH INTITUTE OF CHINA RAILWAY ENGINEERING CORPORATION

本文扼要回顾作为铁道部特殊地质路基与地质灾害防治技术专业研究单位,历经40多年的创业、发展,在滑坡防治、冻土、盐湖、黄土路基与地基、裂土(膨胀土)及防沙治沙等特殊地质领域以及文物保护、环保方面所取得的成就,为铁路运营安全和新线建设、国家防灾减灾作出的贡献。

The paper reviewed briefly the achievements,which were obtained by the Northwest Research In- stitute standing as a professional research institution engaged in special geological subgrade and geological disaster control technique,in the special geological fields of landslide control,frozen soil,salt lake,loess sub- grade and foundation,fissure clay(expensive soil),and sand prevention and control as well as in the preserva- tion of cultural relics and environment protection by doing pioneering work and developing for more than 40 years.It also reviewed the contribution made by the institute to the safety of railway transportation,the con- struction of new railway lines and the disaster prevention and reduction of the country.
