The paper gives a brief introduction to the studies on translation of non-equivalence conducted at home and abroad.Based on these studies,it describes the strategies of translating those headwords that have no equivalents in the target language.They are the methods of transliteration with a superordinate,translation by an unmarked word with a label,translation by cultural substitution plus a label,and translation by illustration.
