A View on the Value of Historiography in the Social Transition Stage

当前中国社会正处于社会转型阶段,从物质文化到精神文化都在发生着深刻的变化。我们只有从整个人类社会发展历程的角度,才能真正认识当代社会的性质与未来发展方向。历史学对现实社会的指导作用,大大超越了以往简单的经验教训的总结,而是在认识和把握历史规律的基础上,以历史的必然性和规律性为依据,科学地认识当代社会的性质与未来发展方向。同时,社会转型阶段也面临着一个人文精神的传承和重建的艰巨任务,而历史著作中的价值判断和历史主体意义阐释,既是时代精神的反映,又是人文传承和教育的重要渠道。

China is now experiencing a social transition stage with profound changes ranging from material culture to spiritual one. The nature and the developing direction of the contemporary society can only be fully understood by studying the developing process of the whole human society. The guidance role of historiography for the present society has gone far beyond the simple summary of former experiences and lessons. Based on the understanding and mastering of the law of the development of history, historiography enable human beings to understand scientifically the nature and the developing direction of the contemporary society. Meanwhile, also presented in the social transition stage is a huge task of inheriting and reconstructing the spirit of humanity. The value judgment and the meaning interpretation in historical works, which well reflect the contemporary spirit, play an important in the inheritance and education of humanity spirit.
