Why is there a different understanding of monarch and minister ingredients in prescription of Sini Decoction? While pointing out various views from the medical practitioners, the author puts forward the idea that the monarch is adopted on the basis of symptoms or causes, the greater or less urgency. The author also illustrates, in the light of Cannon of Internal Medicine, that the ultimate purpose of application of Sini Decoction is making the balance between yin and yang, and expounds the pharmaceutical effect of Radix Glycyrrhizae, dried ginger and Radix Aconiti praeparata from aspects of the interior and exterior, yin and yang.
