This paper highlights the possibilities to attain the most effective surface protection, e.g. micro scratch resistance, scrub and abra sion resistance, by using the correct wax additive in waterborne parquet lacquers and aqueous printing inks. As the wax particles concentrate at the coating surface during drying, the choice of the appropriate base wax or combination is the most important criterion for the final coatings properties. Besides surface protection, the wax additives also can influence other properties such as surface slip and anti - blocking.
