This paper discusses Alice Walker s criticism of LU Xun in the background of cross-cultural reading,and maintains that her criticism more or less reflects the differences in both narration and ideology between her novel The Color Purple and Lu Xun s The True Story of Ah Q.It also explores into the logic of reading beyond ethnic and gender boundaries in the light of reader-response criticism,reception theory,narratology,archeology and comparative literature.
