The digital library is a swift channel by which a country enters information age.Based on the definition of digital library,the paper discusses the necessity,characteristics,pattern of the reference and consultation work in the digital library.Meanwhile,the paper compares the difference between the reference and consultation work of traditional library and those of digital one,looks ahead the development of the reference and consultation work.
