GENERAL INTRODUCTION

The Institute of Aviation Medicine of Air Force, founded in August 1954, has become the only one military aeromedical research agency of our country with complete set of specialties, rich scientific technical strength, advanced equipments and comprehensive research development capabilities as the result construction and development in the past 50 years. The research works cover aviation physiology, aeromedical engineering, aviation biodynamics, aviation survival and rescue equipments, aviation psychology and aviation ergonomics, etc. The institute, possessing a series of largo scale special testing equipments including human centrifuge, barocamera, gyrolab. impact acceleration testing equipment etc, mainly takes the research works on apply aeromedical theory and measures of medical support, and also takes the work of aeromedical problems arose in its development and use of new aviation weapons and equipments. The institute conducts aircrew medical evaluation and aviation physiological training. The institute has set up the aviation physiology laboratory, PLA and flight surgeon training center PLA. and is in charge of sponsoring, editing and publishing of Flight Surgeon Journal and Chinese Journal of Aerospace Medicine.
