This paper focuses mainly on the cognitive paradigm as manifested of William Faulkner in his creation of women characters. Faulkner depicted with much interest women 's fate in his numerous novels, but most women, as described by Faulkner, have a distorted disposition and suffer many setbacks in life. The reason for this pattern lies in the fact that as one who grew up in the south and was a representative of masculine discourse, Faulkner actually projectee his women characters his understanding of life in the American south.
