儒家认为“死生有命”,应“不语怪力乱神”;虽“君子疾没世而名不称焉”,但应“养生丧死”、“厚生薄 死”等等,这些都对后世的挽联创作产生了巨大的影响。

The Confucianists consider that 'whether life or death is caused by one' s fate' and that 'never mention strange power and treacherous gods'; though ' a man of virtue is not well known during his lifetime', he should 'care for life and express mourning for the dead' and 'stress life, not death,All these ideas influence the creation of elegiac couplet very much.
