With the development of market economy, modern material circulation exercises greater and greater influences on regional economy. Chongqing, the biggest economic center in both the southwestern areas of China and the upper reaches of Yangtze River, possesses superior conditions of developing modern material circulation. Analyzing the actual state of economy and material circulation, this paper discusses the necessity, especially the economic results and social effect, of developing regional distribution centers in Chongqing.
