作为三维立体艺术的雕塑,在表现体育精神,刻画竞技形象,提示运动内涵等方面有其它美术门类所不及的独特功能和魅力。然而,在我国悠久的雕塑艺术史上,体育题材雕塑实在是凤毛麟角。改革开放以来,随着我国体育事业的不断发展繁荣,体育雕塑的创作日益兴盛。一大批题材广阔、风格多样、手法各异、内涵丰富的体育雕塑作品如雨后春笋般涌现,给雕塑百花园增添了夺目的光彩。体育雕塑的异军突起,是中国当代雕塑艺术发展的盛事,是中国体育扬威世界的象征。现在,体育雕塑已经成为彰显奥林匹克精神,弘扬现代文明理念的重要艺术形式,成为我国雕塑艺术和体育文化不可或缺的组成部分。
Chinese sculptors began to carve out sports-theme creations with different styles since the 1980s when Chinese athletes started to shine on international sports stages. Shi Xiangdong, Sheng Yuanqing and Li Ming are among the nation s best sports sculptors. Shi s work "Walk to the Olympics" took the nation s top sports sculpture award in 1997 and Shen s creation "Throw", which freezes the moment when a shot-putter made the best play of his life, has won wide critical acclaim.
