On the Characteristics of the Big Famine in Henan at the Beginning of the 1940s

20世纪40年代初,河南爆发了震惊中外的大灾荒,旱、蝗、泛、疫多种灾荒接连发生,历时两三年,遍及全省,造成200万—300万人死亡,是中国近代灾荒史上最严重的灾荒之一。此次灾荒范围广,具有并发性、连续性、积累性等。

At the beginning of the 1940s,a big famine shocking the world broke out in Henan,many kinds of disasters,such as dry,locust,water and so on,was happenning continuously,lasting three years,acrossing the whole province and causing 200-300 millions deaths.It s one of the most serious famines in the history of Modern China,and possesses the characteristics of a wide range affected,many disasters happening simultaneously,continuity,accumulation,war and famine intertwining etc.
