Idioms are commonly used set phrases in a given language.This paper analyzes the influence of English and Chinese culture upon their languages from the following aspects: numbers,geographical condition,social customs,historical background,religious belief and fables,etc..These aspects also enable idioms to have cultural information in them.Therefore,acquiring information of different cultures will be the basis of understanding idioms correctly and thoroughly.
