Exploring "Rule of Virtue" from a Historical Perspective

德治是一个古老的概念 ,其思想的产生在中西方历史上都比法治思想的产生要早得多。党中央去年年初提出以德治国的重要治国思想 ,是对中西方传统德治思想的继承和发展。本文系统考察了中西方历史上的德治思想 ,对从理论和实践上深刻领会和认真贯彻党中央的德治思想 。

Rule of virtue' is an ancient concept, which came into being long before the birth of 'rule of law' in both China and the West. At the beginning of last year, the Party's Central Committee decided that 'rule of virtue' would be the way to run the state, a decision which reflects the fact that our Party carries forward and develops the traditional idea of 'rule of virtue' in history. A historical exploration of ' rule of virtue' helps us to get a better understanding of the decision of the Party's Central Committee. It is quite beneficial to the further perfection of the socialist state-running system with Chinese characteristics.
