The thesis expounds systematically the army's Role in the South economic Reconstruction. First, the army would induce the freedmen to sign labor contracts with the planter and informed Bank's system which began the first step in the transition from slave to free labor. Second, the army auctioned and rented the land , the political and economic structure of the South was transformed. Third, the army issued orders aimed at slamming the influx of freedmen into South cities, there were abundant labors in the South economic recovery.
