The paper generally analyzes Laozi's dialectic thought on contradiction through the comparison between Laozi and modern materialism and the analysis of the identity, belligerence, universality and particularity of contradiction. It also points out that Laozi's dialectic thought, despite its limitations, is rather precious since it could realize the existence of contradiction and treat it dialectically in ancient times.
