This paper deals with the nationality theory of the third generation of the Chinese Communist Party leadership headed by Comrade Jia ng Zemin. The authors regard it as the inheritance and development of the natio nality theory of Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping Theory, as well as the third stage of the development of Marxist nationality theory in China. This paper expounds the nationality theory of the third generation of the Chinese Communist Party leadership in terms of its foundation, characteristics, main content, and basic approaches to and basic strategy of China's ethnic probl ems. The nationality theory of the third generation of the Chinese Communist Party leadership, according to the authors, has rich content, profound thinking, striking features and complete integrative system, suits the needs of the new times and thus can serve as the guiding theory for China's ethnic work in the 21st century.
