虢国考

A Verification of Guo State

虢国是西周初分封的重要姬姓国，汉以后的文献中记载了东、西、南、北和小虢五个虢国。依据历史文献和考古资料，我们认为周初周王所封只有二虢，一为东虢，一为西虢。由于西虢的东迁及其历史变迁，而有了所谓的五个虢国。

Guo state was a vital state surnamed Ji enfeoffed in the early Western Zhou Dynasty. In post-Han literature there has been five Guo states which include the Eastern, Western, Southern, Northern and Small Guo state respectively. In reference to historical literature and archaeological finds, it is found out that in early Zhou times, the King of the Zhou court had only enfeoffed two Guo states, one was the Eastern Guo,the other was the Western Guo. The socalled five Guo states came from the Western Guo state's eastward movement and it's related historical changes.
