Objective:To investigatetheclinicalandpathologicalfeaturesof idiopathicmembranousnephropathy(IMN)in Chineseadults.Methods:From1986to1997,264patientswithbiopsyprovenmembranousnephropathywereselectedin thisstudy.Clinicalandpathologicalfeatureswerecomparedbetweenpatientsat differentagesby t test.Re sults:(1)Pa-tientsfrom21-40yearsoldwereinclinedto membranousnephropathy.(2)Onehundredandsixof thepatientshadheavy proteinuriaatpresentation.Hypertensionwasfoundin35patients.Renalinsuffciencyoccurredin7.7%of thepatientsin renalbiopsy.Microscopichematuriawas foundin40.2%of thepatients.Seventy-fourpatientspresented nephroticsyn-drome.(3)Eightof the57patientshaddeteriorationof renalfunctionduringan average49-monthfollow-up.(4)Patients of stageⅠ,Ⅱ,ⅢandⅣaccountedfor42.3%,48.7%,6.0%and3.0%respectively.GlomeruliIgG,C 3 andC 1q deposition was foundin93.2%,98.8%and58.3%of thepatients.Conclusion:Youngerpatientsare inclinedto membranous nephropathy.Theincidenceof hypertension,microscopichematuriaandrenalinsuffciencyis similarto thatof othercoun-tries,whilenephroticsyndromeisuncommon.
