Objective:To studytherelationshipbetweentheossificationanddegenerationof theligamentumflavum,we comparedthechangesof Calcium(Ca),Phosphorus(P),Magnesium(Mg),Zinc(Zn),Cuprum(Cu),Manganese(Mn),Molybdenum(Mo)andFluoride(F)in theligamentumflavumandserabetweenpatientswithOLFandthosewithlumbar stenosis.Methods:Thecontentsof Ca,P,Mg,Zn,Cu,Mn,Mo andfluoridein theligamentumflavumandserawere detectedby usingatomicabsorption,phosphomlybdicbluemethodandfluorideselectedelectrode.Results:Therewere similarchangesof Ca,P,Mg,Zn,Cu,Mn andMo in theligamentsandserabetweenossificationanddegenerationof the ligamentumflavum,andfluoridewas obviouslyhigherintheligamentumflavumof OLF.Conclusion:Itis suggestedthat thereisa tendencyfromdegenerationto ossificationof theligamentumflavum,andfluorideplaysan importantroleinthe earlystageof theprocessof theOLF.
