Through it's a-hundred-year existence, there has not been any substantial alteration of the offside rule. The carrying out of the rule is a waste of time of both spectators and television transmissions. The development of football cannot benefit from the offside rule. This article dissects the back wardness and unappropriateness of the rule from its origin, content and implementation. The author makes a suggestion to cancel the offside rule and would be glad to have further discussions.
