The basic tone for China's economic development in 2008 has been settled by the Central Economic Work Conference held last month,from December 3 to 5,2007 in Beijing.This critical annual conference determined sev- eral new economic policies sched- uled for 2008,including efforts to prevent the economy from overheat- ing and curb inflation. A slew of issues facing the country's economy in 2008 have been identified;and adjusting to solve last year's problems has be- come the major goal.The primary task of macroeconomic control in 2008 is to prevent China's rapid economic growth from overheating, and to prevent price increases from leading to severe inflation.
