"个人的发见"是20年代小说现代转型的一个首要标志。在这一过程中,现代性爱思潮起了重要的作用:现代性爱观带来了人对自身欲望、身体的发现并由此获得个性觉醒;同时,性苦闷展示、新性道德建构又对束缚个性的旧道统形成了解构,使"个人"从旧道统中脱身而出。但是,"五四"启蒙的"个人-社会"的文化逻辑使觉醒的"个人"又陷入了两难的道德困境。
