摘要
十九世纪的美国经济迅猛发展,而文化观、道德观、宗教观则大多继承了西方传统模式,作为生活在这一时代的美国浪漫主义小说家——霍桑及其作品深受宗教的影响,他的代表作《红字》便是其经典作品。本文通过对女主人公海丝特.白兰的性格及命运的分析,探讨宗教对人性的渗透和影响。
In the 19th century,the economy developed very fast in America,but the culture viewpoints,morality and religion mostly inherited the traditional model of the West.As a novelist of Romanticism in that period,Hawthorne and his works were greatly influenced by religion,and his masterpiece The Scarlet Letter was a classic.This paper probes into how religion penetrates people s life and the impact of religion on human nature by analyzing the heroine-Hester Prynne s personality and fate.
