Information Blending and the Grammaticalization of After All

Traugott等人(2004)认为语用含义促成了after all由客观义向主观义的演化,其语义经过了从邀约含义到一般邀约含义最后到语义固着化的历时演变过程。本文在Traugott等人研究的基础上从信息复合的角度来补充说明邀约含义的推导过程,论证after all由时间义过渡到常规化的衍生义以及无限丰富的临时意义都是它的本义与语境信息相复合的结果,指出信息复合是促使after all由时间副词演化为语气副词的驱动力。
