The metropolitan area network (MAN) for Universities is one of the important aspects of informatization and modernizing on education, it is an absolutely necessarily infrastructure for high level networking applications. This paper elaborates the issues of the MAN in Jiangsu Education and Research Network (JSERNET), which includes the experiences on building and managing the MAN and presents its future Plans.
