Assessment of the Reinforcing Project in Bingling Temple

炳灵寺石窟加固工程启动于1997年9月29日 ,工期两年。主要对重点洞窟169窟及窟外崖面进行了全面加固 ,并通过原地疏导的方法安装排水管290米 ,使石窟长期存在的沙石坠落及渗水问题得到了解决。文章回顾了工程的整个过程 ,并对其重大意义和不足作了评价。

The reinforcing project begun in September of 1997 and it lasted two years. The project mainly reinforced the key cave No. 169 and its outside precipice. Two hundred and ninety meters of drainage pipeline was installed to rid the caves of leaking water and falling sandstone. In this article, the author reviewed the whole process of the project, evaluated its significance, and analyzed its weak points.
