Marrow of Channels and Collaterals

In this article, illustrations and records from classical medical works about marrow in vertebral canal and intracranial part were summarized and expounded. It revealed that marrow in vertebral canal was component of meridian. Therefore, it was called as sea of meridian, supervisor of meridian, hinge of meridian or marrrow of meridian in pareticular. According to illustrations and records from classical medical works relating to anatomy,physiology,pathology and acupuncture treatment of marrow in vertebral canal and intracranial part and compared with that of in nerves, communality between them can be found. It can be deduced from illustrations on classical medical works about that marrow in vertebral canal and intracranial part refers to spine and brain. The law of acupoint selected as “puncturing head and face according to locatin, puncturing vertebra according to segments”. As a matter of fact, it is said that selecting acupoints should be based on the distribution law of peripheral nerves.
