On Reasons and Measures of Successive Central Governments' Management over Living Buddha's Reincarnation

活佛转世是藏传佛教创立的一种举世独特的宗教传承制度。它自1283年噶玛噶举派开创活佛转世先河后,沿袭至今。本文通过分析归纳,论述了历代中央政府加强对活佛转世管理的原因与措施,通过加强和完善对活佛转世的管理,以促进藏传佛教健康有序地发展、西藏社会的稳定、国家统一和民族团结。

Living Buddha's reincarnation is an unique religious inheriting system created by Tibetan Buddhism. It originated from Kar-ma-pa in 1283 and has lasted till now. This article analyzes and summarizes the reasons and measures of successive central governments' management over living Buddha's reincarnation, through which Tibetan Buddhism's healthy development is promoted, as well as the stability of Tibetan society and the national unity.
