The Impact of Long-Hai Railway on the Rising of Qin-Bao Industrial District: From 1937 to 1945

近代以来,宝鸡僻处陕西的西部边陲,交通不便,信息闭塞,经济十分落后。1937年3月,陇海铁路通车宝鸡,揭开了当地近代工业发展的序幕。抗战期间宝鸡工业发展迅速,在关中西部逐渐形成了一个以宝鸡为中心沿陇海铁路分布的"秦宝工业区"。这一工业区的形成,在当地社会经济发展过程中起了示范和促进的作用,为抗战时期的军需民用做出了重大的贡献,也为以后的现代化建设奠定了基础。

Since modern times,Baoji,a western border area of Shaanxi province,fell behind the other areas in economy owing to the poor transportation and blocked information.The opening of Longhai Railway to Baoji in March,1937 opened the prelude of the local modern industrial development.The rapid development of its industry during the Anti-Japanese War made Baoji a center of Qinbao industrial area along the Longhai Railway in Western areas of Central Shaanxi.So the forming of this industrial area effectively improved the local social and economic development,made a great contribution to military and civil supplies during the war,and paid a good foundation for the future modernization of Baoji area as well.
