公民社会是一个历史范畴,其概念内涵随着社会经济、政治状况的变化在不同时期呈现出不同的内容与特点,从古代到当代其内涵已经发生了根本性的变化,这个演进过程可以概括为:古希腊罗马时期的公民社会文明观,17—18世纪的公民社会政治观,19世纪初的公民社会经济观,当代的公民社会文化观。

Civil society is a historical category,its connotations have been changed with the socio-economic and political at different times and show different contents and features,from ancient to contemporary,the evolution can be summarized as—the civilization viewpoint of civil society in Ancient Greek and Roman,the politics viewpoint of civil society in 17 and 18 century,the economic viewpoint of civil society in 19 century and the culture viewpoint of civil society in contemporary.
