台湾高等教育的发展与不均等问题

Disparities in the Development of Taiwan Higher Education

公绩主义价值观使许多社会大众信服于教育的向上流动功能,进而要求扩张教育规模,因此许多社会试图扩张高校以提升劳工阶级子女的向上流动比率,进而改善社会不均等的问题。本文以文化再生产的观点论证,此种措施并未考量到社会阶级学生学科能力的区隔以及衍生的问题,并且也忽视外在经济规模的制约性,本文认为社会流动主要取决于经济规模而非高校的扩张。

Meritocratic value does not only drive most people to believe in the positive function of education and upward social mobility, but also makes them put efforts to expand education system. Higher education institutions have been expected to implement redemptive/emancipatory function in order to lessen social inequity, which is intensified by government promoted higher education marketisation. This study argues that it is difficult for such type of social actions to achieve predetermined goals, because those action often ignore the powerful influence of market and cultural reproduction.
