作为英语必读经典的莎士比亚作品由于时代久远,存在许多生僻罕见或用法古旧的单词,给学生的阅读造成了很大障碍。而利用词源学知识,尤其是拉丁希腊语的古典词根,通过词汇学(构词法、语义演化等)和上下文的推理,可以轻松而准确地理解作品,并可能激发学生对于英语语言以及古典文化的兴趣。
William Shakespeare’s works are the classic examples of English language, but its obsolete and archaic usage of vocabulary causes great difficulty to English learners.
