十堰山区是目前湖北省贫困化程度最高的地区。但在历史上并不贫困，而是有着较深厚的经济与人文积累。因此，引起该区贫困的关键并不是地域因素，而是人文因素。只有从人文视野来考察其贫困问题，才能找到摆脱贫困的根本之路。

Shiyan's mountainous area is the poorest area in Hubei province. But according to the historical records it used to have economical and cultural amassment. So the key poverty reason is not the mountianous area but humane factors, the investigation of which is the essential way to get rid of poverty.
