Guangzhou is the birthpalce for Lingnan architecture.The historical-cultural(open-minded),social-political(being marginalized),climate and geographical(as gateway for logistic,communication and trading hub) factors contribute to the formation and evolution of Lingnan architecture ever since.This artical attempts to trace the origin and history of Lingnan architecture,to summarize its fundamentals,the design philosophy and the unique characteristics,and to explore the future directions of Lingnan architecture.
